Governor – Mr G Somerville

I became a governor in 2016. My eldest grandson graduated from Chilton Primary and now attends Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College. Four other grandchildren attend the school  – and there are two more to follow.

I served for sixteen years in the RAF as an information analyst/computer programmer. After leaving the RAF I worked as a computer analyst for public and private organisations including Durham Constabulary, North Tyneside Council and Newcastle City Health NHS Trust. I have project managed, designed and developed many large IT projects. I have been self-employed since 2006, running my own software development business from home.

I am also a director of the Chilton Green Energy Foundation CIC.

Chilton Academy is a great community school, working at the core of Chilton. It has a welcoming, friendly environment and is achieving high standards. I am honoured to serve as a governor – and want to bring my professional and life skills to help to support the management and teachers in the great job they do in giving our children the best education available.”
